eGP stands for Electronic Government Procurement. It is the digital platform for government procurement of Bangladesh. eGP has made revolutionary changes in public procurement process of Bangladesh.

e-GP website address is www.eprocure.gov.bd. All the government organizations of Bangladesh now use this common platform to procress their procurement. All the tendering related activities like publishing Annual Procurement Plan, issuing IFT notice, conducting pre-tender meeting, selling bidding documents, tender submission, opening & evaluation, issuing NOA, submission of performance security, contract management, procurement auditing etc can be performed through eGP web portal.

Following stakeholders can access the eGP portal to perform their respective roles: Only the registered tenderers can participate in the tenders invited on e-GP system. Any organization can register as a tenderer by paying a fee to CPTU. eGP Guidelines was published on 15th February, 2011.
To provide technical support to the users CPTU maintains a support team known as e-GP Help Desk which operates 24 hours. It provides technical support through telephone and email. Help Desk email address is helpdesk@eprocure.gov.bd and phone number is 16575.
e-GP portal provides a secure environment for conducting pre-tender meeting electronically. Anyone can ask a question regarding a tender without disclosing his identity. The PE then can reply to that query which is visible to all the bidders.

eGP portal has also introduced Contract Management System (CMS). Now payment to the contractor can be paid throough the eGP system.
The auditors can now get access to the tender and contract documents for performing the auditing tasks.
Although there is a two-member Tender Opening Committee (TOC), the tender opening records are automatically generated by the eGP system which saves a lot of time.
eGP system also helps in tender evaluation process. Price comparison table is produced automatically for financial evaluation. Clarification may be seek to any tenderer through e-GP portal by the TEC and the tenderer can reply.

Introduction of eGP has have revolutionary impact on public procurement field of Bangladesh. eGP has reduced tender processing time significantly. It has reduced tendering and advertising cost for the PEs. It has eliminated the roles of muscle men during tendering process. eGP has ensured a level playing field for all the tenderers by disseminating information equally and quickly to all. eGP system has made the procurement process more fair by ensuring confidentiality of information. For example, even the PE cannot know before opening how many tender documents were sold.
The eGP system has reduced the need for printing tons of tender and contract documents. This saves a environment by reducing use of paper. Thus eGP helps in green procurement initiative.
Now more than one lakh Tenderers / Consultants are registered on e-GP system. More than seven lakh tenders have been invited through e-procurement platform of Bangladesh. This is a huge success.
